Oystercatcher - another of my favourite birds to draw. I love their striking black and white plumage and the way they strut around as though they own the beach. Adding the watercolour really brought the wet sand in the background to life, and created some extra pools and reflections.

One in a tiny edition of 20, each drypoint etching is made by scratching into the surface of a small acrylic plate which is then inked up, wiped clean and rolled through a printing press (similar to a mangle) so that the etched areas retain the ink and the untouched areas are lighter. The focus on tone rather than colour is unusual for me and I love the slightly gritty quality of the lines and the uncertainty of how each print might reveal itself. I use Fabriano paper which has a creamy, velvety texture, and each print is numbered and hand tinted with watercolour, so every one is a unique, original piece of art.

You are welcome to collect from my studio but if this isn't possible your original will be wrapped in tissue paper, carefully packaged and posted via Royal Mail Special Delivery. Smaller originals will go via Royal Mail tracked 48.
