Coquet Island is a wildlife sanctuary a mile off Amble Harbour with a beautiful 19th century lighthouse. You can’t land there (unless you are an RSPB warden) but you can take a summer boat trip around it, and you might encounter the only UK breeding colony of elegant Roseate Terns, and plenty of puffins too. I love to see it when I walk on the beach at Amble and Warkworth.

The sun rises behind the island, and those sunrise colours are so appealing to me. I wanted to create a feeling of tranquility, as the birds wake up and the promise of a fresh new day begins. This is certainly one of my most colourful land/seascapes and painting it made me very happy.

Printed on Epson archival paper, this fine art giclee print is signed and titled on the front, mounted in pale cream and includes a certificate of authenticity.
